Natural atmosphere

After the troubled begin of the decade, we enter a period of uncertainty and need to surround ourselves with calming and healing spaces, with nutritious colours, associated with nature. The spaces are blended with curved shapes treating rubbery, porous, flat and powdery surfaces to generate a hybrid and limitless atmosphere.

A good example of this is Dois Trópicos designed by the Brazilian studio MNMA in the city of São Paulo. It is about a botanical shop, a yoga center and a restaurant. All designed to integrate these three environments under a single aesthetic inviting customers to self-care and relax with a design that strives to integrate all these environments under a single aesthetic that invites customers to care and relax.

The hand-moulded clay and chipped wood bring a sense of joy and pleasure inherent in handmade things. Thus the interior features terracotta coloured bricks made by local craftsmen, with walls coloured with a clay hue and the floor reacts allegorically to the movement of sunlight throughout the day. In keeping with the concern for sustainability the spiral staircase was designed with reused materials from demolitions with concrete and wooden steps.
