WHAT ARE COOKIES?
Cookies are small files that are installed on the hard drive or browser of your computer, tablet, smartphone, or similar device with Internet browsing functions, and they serve, among other things, to personalise website services, facilitate website browsing and usability, obtain aggregate information on website Users, enable reproduction and visualisation of multimedia content on the website, allow interaction elements between a User and the website, and enable security tools, etc.
DEFINITIONS USED IN THIS COOKIE POLICY
- Website usability: this may be defined as the User´s experience on browsing, using, and interacting with a web page.
- Aggregate information: non-nominal information, typically numerical and intended to provide statistical data.
- Terminal equipment: User´s equipment (computer, smartphone, tablet, etc.) for surfing the Internet.
- Editor: party responsible for or legal owner of the web page.
- Third party: collaborating, external, or editor-related entity involved in managing some cookies.
- Party responsible for the cookie: the editor, party responsible for, or legal owner of the web page or, even, a third party in some cases.
- Browsing habits: trends displayed by the User on browsing a web page, such as time spent visiting the page, parts visited, most frequent sections, place of origin, and pages visited.
WHAT TYPES OF COOKIES ARE THERE?
Depending on the entity managing them:
- Own cookies: these are cookies sent to the User´s terminal equipment from a device or domain managed by said device or domain´s editor and from which the service requested by the User is provided.
- Third-party cookies: these are cookies sent to the User´s terminal equipment from a device or domain that is not managed by the said device or domain´s editor, but by another entity that processes the data obtained via the cookies.
Depending on the length of time that the cookies remain enabled in the terminal equipment:
- Session cookies: these are a type of cookie designed to collect and store data while the User accesses a web page.
- Persistent cookies: these are a type of cookie in which data is stored in the terminal, it being possible for said cookie to be accessed and processed for a length of time defined by the party responsible for the cookie, which may range from a few minutes to several years.
Depending on the purpose for which the data obtained through the cookies is processed:
- Technical cookies: these cookies allow the User to browse a web page, platform, or application and use the different options or services provided therein, such as controlling data traffic and communication, identifying the session, accessing restricted access parts, recalling the items making up an order, performing an order purchase process, applying to register or participate in an event, using security elements during browsing, storing content for disseminating videos or sound or sharing content via social media.
- Personalisation cookies: these cookies allow the User to access the service with some predefined general characteristics based on a series of criteria in the User´s terminal, such as language, type of browser for accessing the service and regional configuration from which the User accesses the service.
- Analysis cookies: these cookies allow the party responsible for said cookies to monitor and analyse user behaviour on the websites to which they are linked. The information collected by this type of cookie is used for measuring website, application, or platform activity and for drawing up User browsing profiles on these websites, applications, and platforms, with a view to making improvements based on data analysis of service use.
- Advertising cookies: these cookies allow the most effective possible management of the advertising spaces that, if such is the case, the editor has included in a web page, application, or platform from which the requested service is provided, based on criteria such as edited content or frequency with which the advertisements are displayed.
- Behavioural advertising cookies: these cookies allow the most effective possible management of the advertising spaces that, if such is the case, the editor has included in a web page, application, or platform from which the requested service is provided. These cookies store information on User behaviour obtained through continuous tracking of User browsing habits, which allows development of a specific profile for displaying profile-based advertising.
HOW TO DISABLE COOKIES
The blocking or disabling of all cookies helps protect privacy, but may also limit User experience on some websites, as well as limiting functionalities or even not allowing proper browsing or use of some website services.
